Chez-Provence is a very pretty three bedroom detached house set in substantial terraced gardens, all located in a quiet location under ten minutes walk from the centre of the market town of Cotignac, known as one of the prettiest small towns of Provence.
Background: The Canadian author Timothy Findley lived here for many years and developed the house and the gardens. His books included "The Piano Man's Daughter", "Not Wanted on the Voyage", and the short story collection, "Dinner Along the Amazon". His library remains at Chez-Provence and can be enjoyed by guests.
Outside: from the private terraces and the main garden at the front of the house, there are panoramic views across the landscape of Provence, looking south and south-east. At
night the star canopy is amazing. To the north of the house there are rising terraces to two driveways, a car port and parking area suitable for up to four cars. Also located here is the former
studio of the writer Timothy Findley, which is not open to guests. We continue to develop the gardens, where you will find three attractive terraced areas with seating, olive trees and numerous
plants and shrubs. There is a small lily and fish pond on the second terrace. There is an 8.4 metres by 3.7 metres swimming pool on the third terrace with hardwood decking and a safety fencing
surround. The fourth terrace has ancient olive trees and a border of wild flowers.
Inside: The house is full of charm. It is very spacious with a dining room that seats six, a large living room with a grand fireplace and through French doors a very large
conservatory with a sofa bed. Then there are two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom as well as two bathrooms.
Hot water and central heating are powered by a large oil-fired boiler. Satellite TV and a fast internet connection are included.
